About TamilWriter

A home for Tamil letters, worldwide

A moderated directory, a live feed of literary events and releases, and a bridge between writers at every stage of their work.

What the app does

TamilWriter brings the worldwide Tamil literary scene into one readable place. It holds a directory of Tamil-origin writers with their biographies, languages, genres and published books; a feed of readings, workshops, festivals, book launches and new releases; and a request desk that lets readers, aspiring writers and publishers reach the people they are looking for.

Directory profiles are compiled from public sources, then claimed and corrected by the writers themselves. Everything submitted to the feed passes through a moderator before it appears, so what you read here is accurate and current rather than a scatter of social posts.

Who it is for

  • Readers who want to follow the writers they love, discover new voices, and keep a shortlist of events worth attending.
  • Aspiring and emerging writers looking for a first conversation with someone further along, and for a profile that records their work properly.
  • Established writers who want their page to be theirs: claimable, editable, and reviewed rather than scraped.
  • Publishers, editors and festival programmers searching a trustworthy directory instead of guesswork.

Who builds it

TamilWriter is built and maintained by Coucal Global, an independent studio that publishes culturally rooted directories and community platforms for diaspora audiences. The desk works directly with writers and publishers to keep the directory honest, and the platform is supported by the community it serves.
